Structured Circus Workshops
Structured workshops are perfect for older children and young adults, and offer a structured environment in which the participants can learn a variety of circus skills in a fun and inclusive atmosphere.
Structured workshops are suitable for up to 30 people, split into 3 groups of 10, each with their own instructor and set of skills to be learnt.
The workshops are divided in to 3 rotations each lasting 30 minutes. Within each rotation, one of our workshop leaders will take the group through a number of different moves using one or two pieces of equipment. Each of the rotations is designed to focus on improving one or two key skills of the participants, including hand eye coordination, balance and spatial awareness.
Rotation 1: Poi (Spatial Awareness & Hand Eye Coordination)
Using our practice sock poi, the group are taught some of the basic movements and how to link them together. Starting with basic concepts of how to hold the poi and swing them within different planes, the workshop leader will work through a number of moves that can be built on from these basic concepts.
Rotation 2: Juggling (Hand Eye Coordination)
Within this rotation, our workshop leader will teach the basics of how to juggle 3 balls. Starting with the basics of how to throw in a juggling pattern, and the movements that are involved, this rotation will build up to a 3 ball cascade.
Rotation 3: Diablo and Stilt walking (Balance & Hand Eye Coordination)
This rotation offers 2 skills. The group will split in two, our workshop leader takes half the group through the basics Diablo skills whilst the rest of the group pair up and take turns in learning to stilt walk following instruction from the workshop leader. The two groups are then swapped halfway through the rotation.
